So I’m going to totally turn red here but where is Azerbaijan? (Sad part I taught 7th grade geography for a year) yeah *clears throat* Glad you went and had a good trip can’t wait to see the pictures.

Hey Sarai!
Don’t turn red — I didn’t know where Azerbaijan was until I found out I was going to be able to go. It’s a breakaway republic from the former Soviet Union…it’s on the Caspian Sea, east of Georgia, south of Russia, north of Iran. Gorgeous place
I have to sort thru all of the pix and upload at least a few of them before I leave next week. Thanks so much for stopping by…I’ve been so quiet these days!

I see many things in terms of Music. Azerbaijan reminds me of Sheherezad by Rimsky Korsakov. Did you see any puffy pants dancers jumping around with swords? Nephtina

Hey Nephtina:
Hah…it’s an evocative place, but Azerbaijan is more Turkic than Arabian, if you know what I mean. It’s like a blend of Turkey, India and Russia.
The pictures are awesome…I will get them up and running soon!
